Isabel's Story
I love to dance because I want to major in musical theatre in college and hopefully be on Broadway someday. When I was little, my mom says, I would go around the entire house singing and dancing. At a young age she put me into theatre however, as I participated in theatre we realized that in order to excel at musical theatre for a living one has to be able to dance. At the age of twelve I started dancing and in about two months was moved up to level three and progressing very quickly.
By the time I was thirteen I was a class with a lot of musical theatre nerds and we were all working for the same goal to be able to sing, dance and act. I have now been a part of many shows were I get to use my love and skills of dance to make the show more exciting and entertaining. I love being able to make people smile and I feel like no matter the age, race, or gender, everyone enjoys watching dance.
To me dance means that one expresses his/her most inner self and leave all of the problems and emotions on the dance floor. To be able to be a part of something that has been a part of our culture for so long is a real honor. Whenever I am having a bad day, if I go to dance, it turns my day around and always makes me smile.
